Jesse and his Harrier 2.0

Jesse Sibilin (@jsibilin) is our Reid rider of the month this February on his Harrier 2.0!

Jesse Sibilin from Toronto, Canada has become our Reid Rider of the month for February. He caught our attention after sharing his cycling journeys with our Harrier 2.0 on Instagram. We caught up with Jesse to find out more about him and his biking obsession…

Introduce yourself

Hi there! I am Jesse, currently living in Toronto, Canada. I am a food delivery guy who follows all traffic laws (except stop lights down suburban streets with no cars in sight or pedestrians). More interestingly, I follow some sports and got into road race cycling and global contender races (tour down under now!).

When and how did you get into bike riding?

Originally, I enjoyed rollerblading along the trail near Lake Ontario. So, I could say that I have always enjoyed ‘rolling’ around on the wheels. As mentioned above, I got into road race cycling and global contender races. Later, I realized my commute to work at the time was only 10 kilometres. I figured out a bike just moves faster with less effort. That’s how bike riding has become my routine now.

So, what made you choose Reid and why the Harrier 2.0?

I chose the Harrier 2.0 for its track like geometry and simplicity. Also, I was a bit unsure about some other brands since I am used to brands like Specialized or Giant. Simply, I didn’t want a bike that everyone else has. Thereby, Reid ticked all the boxes for me.

Is this your first Singlespeed bike?

No, it’s not. This is my second singlespeed. It has the same rear wheels that can be switched to fixed gear from freehub. Very convenient!

What and where have you been with it?

All around the city, mostly around Yonge and Dundas or CityPlace/Liberty Village. My favourite spot is Tommy Thompson Lighthouse located at Tommy Thompson Park.

Do you have any other future adventures planned?

In the future, I would like to do bike touring all of North America (USA and Canada). I have only gone for a few century rides but no touring. So, I’m looking for touring/cyclecross bike from REID!! Woohoo bonus points 😉

What advice would you give to those who have never been on a biking adventure or even a bike?

ALWAYS!!! ALWAYS BE SAFE! HAVE FUN AND ENJOY YOUR RIDE!

(Pretty simple yet very hard to follow. The right gear can make things a lot more enjoyable.)

Well, anything else you want to share with us?

This January, there is no snow in Toronto yet. There have been snowfalls but everything get washed away. Canada will be seeing a huge increase in flooding. So, I hope more people get on their bikes and ride instead of clogging up streets with cars 🙂
