Lee (@waytoomuchcoffee) is our Reid Rider of the month for September!
Lee has become our Reid Rider of the month for September on her Ladies Classic after catching our eye on Instagram with her awesome photos and her love for cycling! We caught up with Lee to find out more about her and her adventures on her Ladies Classic…
Introduce yourself…
Hi all, my name is Lee and I live in sunny Western Australia.
2020 has been a crazy year, how has it been for you?
For sure, 2020 has been filled with a lot of uncertainty and change but I’ve been fortunate enough here in Perth to be able to cycle and more recently, explore WA.
Above all though, this year has really centred around supporting and being kind to those around us, taking care of the local environment too.
When and how did you get into bike riding?
As a kid I used to ride a bike at the front of my house, but it wasn’t until I started mountain biking in my 30s that I really got into riding. I then started commuting on my Ladies Classic as a way to improve my fitness for the weekend MTB adventures. Bike riding has definitely become an enjoyable routine part of life nowadays. It’s so much fun and gives me so much freedom!
What made you choose the Ladies Classic?
The style and the bold red colour stood out to me when I was looking for more of a relaxed bicycle to move around the city and explore some cool places with.
Is this your first ‘vintage’ bike?
It sure is !
How has it treated you?
It is a real joy to move around on, especially with the big comfy seat and upright position, I can see everything on the bike. I love the slower nature of the ride, it’s perfect to sightsee and just coast along to wherever I am going.
I actually do most shopping nowadays using this bike instead of a car. I find it super convenient that I can park right in front of the supermarket.
What and where have you been with it?
I enjoy heading into the city on a Saturday night and I have explored Perth’s street art. I also use my Ladies Classic to take me to and from Pilates classes, grocery shops and I even take it to get late night ice cream!
Do you have any other future adventures planned?
Winter has finished here in Perth, so with the warmer weather I’d like to ride to the beach and explore more of Kings Park and the Botanic Gardens in the city which has an amazing collection of Western Australian plants!
Finally, what advice would you give to those who are considering getting into cycling or perhaps have never tried it before?
Have fun, ride at your own pace and within your own ability. Always look after your bike. You don’t need to be fit to ride a bike, but you sure will get fit and happy!
