Bicycles, eBikes & eScooters are quickly becoming a popular form of commuting and exploring. They’re not only environmentally friendly but they make a very cost effective method of getting around hence why they’re becoming more and more popular with travellers, millennials and families worldwide.
Cycle hire schemes are becoming the norm in towns and cities, mainly for their green and clean running requirements but also because there is some good money to be made. After the initial set up cost for launching a fleet of bikes, renting these out to guests and tourists in spring and summer can return anywhere up to £2500 per bike.
Offering cycling options to your guests can make you stand out from other hotels and even gain you some free exposure on social media. There is a whole community on social media with tons of people taking photos with their bike, sharing their adventures and directing people right to the source. Encourage your bicycle renters to tag you in photos and you’re sure to encourage more visitors to your profiles.
Things to consider before offering bike rentals:
What type of bikes would be most suitable for your local area? If you’re in a city you may be best looking into road bikes. Or MTB’s for mixed terrain and woodland areas. Alternatively, eBikes and eScooters are good for exploring larger areas and enjoying the experience without breaking a sweat.
Are electric bikes and scooters more suitable for your location? If you’re located a little further out, or have attractions and adventures dotted in lots of places around you then perhaps electric mobility would be most fitting. Visitors are also less likely to have eBikes & eScooters at home so being able to enjoy them whilst on holiday can be an exciting prospect for many.
