We are super excited to be welcoming to the team as our new Senior Marketing Manager. Caroline is heading up the marketing team and will be working with Beth to marketing Reid globally. We’ve had a chat with Caroline so keep reading to find out more about Reid’s newest team member.
Tell us a little bit about yourself
I have just returned to the UK with my husband and son after being away in Australia for the last 5.5years. We’ve been living north of Sydney and I was working for Woolworths (Australia’s largest Supermarket) with responsibility for the marketing of their ecommerce propositions Click & Collect and Home Delivery. Before we went to Australia I was living in London and working in marketing for Disney retail. I’m slowly adjusting back into UK culture (and weather!). I grew up in Dorset but haven’t lived here for 20 years so I’m excited to re-explore it with my husband and son.
How did you get involved with Reid?
I found Reid whilst looking for roles in the Bournemouth and Poole area and I did some research on them. I was impressed by Reid’s customer focus on quality, value and service and the company ethos of empowering customers to be active with a focus on sustainability (which is really important to me).
What do you enjoy most about your role?
As well as working alongside a super friendly team, I love the autonomy to test and learn without being slowed down by the politics and bureaucracy of big companies.
Where do you see Reid going in the future?
The Bike industry as a whole still has huge growth potential and there has been a change in customer behaviour as a result of Covid which created huge demand. Once global supplies stabilise and customers find their new ‘normal’, unlike some of our larger competitors, Reid has the ability to be agile and responsive to trends and customer demands which is really exciting.
What does an average day in the life look like?
I get up earlier than I’d like (I have a small child alarm clock!) I get myself a big coffee on route and head into the office to check what’s happened overnight on our social and comms channels. I’ll check my inbox for activity or questions relating to our upcoming events, campaigns or launches and have a quick natter with the team. I like to spend a portion of my day planning and building strategy to support our business goals and engage customers and trade.
What type of bike do you ride?
I was a regular bike rider in my youth, but my most recent (and memorable) cycling experience was in San Francisco and it was on a tandem bike with my husband which almost ended in divorce! There are a few too many hills in San Francisco for me to recommend tandem biking, I think a good commuter bike would have been much better (and caused fewer rows!).
What do you like to do on the weekends?
I’m currently enjoying re-exploring our local area with my family, including the beaches and pubs of Poole and Bournemouth.
Finally, what advice would you give to someone who doesn’t cycle, or is new to cycling?
Be brave and give it a go (and wear a helmet!).
