August’s Retailer of the Month is CycleBike, a long standing Reid selling store in Ireland. CycleBike have recently moved locations and introduced some amazing Reid branding across their new shop. Since their first shipment of bikes, CycleBike really understood the Reid brand, and 8 years later the partnership is still going strong.

Introduce yourselves…

CycleBike, opened 2010, selling urban commuter bikes eBikes, and eScooters, and all the gear needed to go with it. We even have paddle boards if you’re willing to get out on the water!

Where can your store be found?                                                                                                                                                                                                              

Dublin City centre, Marys Abbey, just off Capel st.

What does cycling mean to you?

Cycling has always meant joy, fresh air and a sense of freedom. So many customers of ours started cycling as a commuting solution and realise it’s actually their No.1 leisure activity after very little time, you can see the complete change to their outlook, their demeanour .. it’s just fantastic to see.

How do you integrate with your local community?

Being in the city centre has always meant so much to us, we have customers from all walks of life, Passing through on longer journeys, daily commuters, specialist road bikers etc etc. We began a buildabike programme years ago, to get young people involved in bicycle mechanics… and we have always worked with local youth programmes to offer work placements to young people that live locally. Some of our staff have come through that way and have fully qualified as bike mechanics.. it’s been very rewarding on both sides.

Do you have any interesting store stories that you can share with us?

Well, when you’ve been in business as long as we have, dealing with the public, all aspects of life are experienced I guess, we’ve had joyous and heart breaking moments along the way, from people receiving the best call of their lives on the shop floor, to some real tragedies , but it’s all been engaging and I think it’s just the fabric of life ! There isn’t s day goes by without a really good laugh in the shop, most often with a complete stranger!

How long have you been a Reid retailer?

I just met James Reid at Eurobike 2 weeks ago and we were discussing this… I first saw 2 Reid bikes on another stand at Eurobike maybe as far back as 2014?, I knew immediately it was a brand we would chase.. I immediately contacted Rob Akam after the show even though Reid weren’t officially displaying.. so I think we’ve had Reid bikes in store since 2014/15.

What is your best selling Reid product?

How has your experience with Reid been?

We’ve loved it all, our No.1 brand, the guys are always amazing to deal with, and it’s been a pleasure to see the growth in a short time.. really excited about the new road and gravel models coming along the line!

Finally, what advice would you give to those who are considering getting into bike riding or perhaps have never tried it before?

Cycling is for everyone, and will put a smile on everyone’s face.. young and old it’s invigorating, and life changing. Try it, you’ll have no regrets.
