Olympic Supply Company has outgrown its longtime home at 5711 W. Douglas Ave. They started distributing REID in early 2016 after seeing the success Hans Johnsen Company was having with the brand in Texas and the surrounding states. Olympic Supply Company was founded in 1948 by Alphonse Goniu, and in 1964 built its facility on West Douglas Avenue in Milwaukee. The building was expanded in 1998. Olympic Supply Company remains in the Goniu family, with Paul Goniu as President, and the day to day running left to Brian Goniu. In addition to expanidng the REID line up, it has “expanded its parts and accessories inventory because new bikes and models, such as the bigger-wheeled fat bikes, require new parts in addition to the ones required for older models”, Brian said.

Olympic Supply Company has about 14,500 square feet in its current home on Douglas Avenue. The new building has about 28,000 square feet, according to The Dickman Co. Inc./CORFAC International, which brokered the sale. That building will require work to its electrical and plumbing systems before Olympic can move in. On the plus side, it offers more office space, skylights, higher ceilings and, coincidentally, is adjacent to the Oak Leaf Trail.
“We’re happy to tell clients we’re on the bike path,” Brian states.
Brian Goniu, who is the fourth generation of the family to run the business, said “we considered expanding the Douglas Avenue building again. However, an addition would require too much work to meet modern building codes to be cost-effective, its got to the point where the costs of expansion would exceed the value of the building”.
Rob Akam from REID Bikes says “We wish Brian and his team the very best of luck in their new premises and look forward to seeing it in the flesh. Olympic Supply Co are a very important distributor for us and cover a wide area, providing excellent support of our brand and a vast amount experience to all their dealers”.
