Following the success of our Fat Bikes, and the introduction of a new tyre size in the market, we’ve developed a range of premium 27.5+ (650B+) bikes.

27.5+ creates a middle ground between two existing models: Fat Bikes, with 26 x 3.8in – 5.0in tyres, and traditional Mountain Bikes, whose tyres generally range from 2 to 2.5in wide.

Why develop 27+ bikes?

Riders have come to love the additional traction and float offered by Fat Bikes, but still like the more nimble handling and speed offered by more traditional Mountain Bikes. So taking the best bits from both and creating a bike to offer the benefits, with little compromise seemed the perfect solution.

WTB was the first tyre manufacturer to offer 27.5 x 2.8 and 3.0 tyres, enabling bike brands to start developing bikes to fit the needs of these riders.

At REID we work closely with our suppliers during the development process, and our new VICE range was no exception. All three models feature tyres from the pioneering tyre brand, WTB.

There are three models in our VICE range.

The VICE 1.0 is the first in the range with a super clean gloss white finish. Designed to be comparable to the Hercules on spec and price but aimed at a rider looking for a value 27+ offering.

Specification overview:

• 6061-T6 Alloy frame and fork with tapered (1 1/8 to 1 ½) steerer,suspension adjusted for easy upgrades. Rack mounts.
• Shimano 3*8 Speed M310 gearing
• Suntour XCM chainset with replacable rings
• Neco sealed BB and Neco headset
• Promax mechanical discs (180mm front, 160mm rear)
• Alex MD40 rims (40mm width, tubeless ready) laced to Joytech hubs (141mm rear,110 front) using stainless spokes
• WTB Trail Blazer 27.5*2.8 tires with wire bead
• Promax finishing kit (bars in 760mm, stem 60mm)

The VICE 2.0 comes in a vibrant matte blue and is designed to be similar on price point to our popular Ares Fat Bike.

• Shimano M355 hydraulic discs (180mm front, 160mm rear)
• Alex MD40 rims (40mm width, tubeless ready) laced to Formula hubs (Boost 148rear, 110 front) using stainless spokes
• WTB Trail Blazer 27.5*2.8 tires with wire bead
• VP 535 Platform pedals
• Promax finishing kit (bars in 760mm, stem 60mm)

The VICE 3.0 comes in the same striking matte orange as our Zeus Fat Bike and is at a similar price point, for a 27.5+ rider looking for serious adventure.
