I’ve been pushing my mate to get a bike for some time now. Ever since my second hand purchase of a Reid Rapid, Reid has always since been a great alternative from the big brand names.
So my mate and I walk in to a Reid store 10 minutes before closing looking to pick up x226 MTB. We were allowed to test 3 bikes and got the wheels changed on the bike he choose and picked all the he wanted and all within minutes shortly after close. (7pm was closing time)
Servers were great, considering we walked in last minute.
The X226 MTB quality was in fact just as good as my name branded Merida Matts 20 MTB, the only real difference is your paying twice the price for disc brakes. Great price for was you get for a MTB.
I’ve been riding on my Reid Rapid drop bar rode bike for about 3 months now, rides about 6 times of a distance about 17kms for a cheap bike it’s doing better than I expected. Even rides MT Cott-tha, wasn’t easy but again the cheap bike made it. Looking forwarded to upgrading my Rode bike to a Ospray elite or Falco Advanced. Highly recommend.

Bought a secondhand Rapid, then upgraded to some slightly better wheels & Gatorskin tyres.
After 3 years of hard riding and (perhaps way too many) gutter-jumps the frame cracked but my sentiments haven’t changed at all: the Rapid was very reliable, surprisingly light and quite rugged.
I’ve since upgraded slightly to a Reid CX but if I was on a budget, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Rapid.

I haven’t owned a bike for years and have decided this will be the way I will get off my arse and do some exercise.
However, I still know a good bike when I ride one and definitely know good service when I get it.
The shop; the service I received at the shop was fantastic. There was no feeling of reduced service just because I was buying an entry level model and the advice was great. Then when I went to pick it up the service guy went to enth degree to make sure it was set up properly for me and everything was spot on. Highly recommend!
The bike; this bike is fast. I was surprised at the weight, the strength and the overall quality for the money. The gears are smooth, the build is solid and it really is a pleasure to ride.
Do not buy a crappy department store bike! Spend the extra few bucks and get some quality value for money.
AAA+++

Just bought a Reid Rapid flat bar bike from the store and I’m very happy with the quality of the bike so far.
The service at the store was excellent. I did some test runs with several bikes before buying this one and the staff was very helpful.
There was an issues with the clip less pedals I bought with this bike and they gave me a refund with no fuss. Bought some more accessories from them with that.
It’s still too early for me to say anything about the durability of the bike but I think this bike is good value for money, and their customer service is great.

I purchased Rapid last week and immediately ridden back all way. Great performer, not a single issue, even after riding on dirt road. I really feel sorry for those guys spending 2000% more for maybe 50% better bikes. Even if their bikes are 100% better than Reid (which they are not), would it really justify spending 2000% more ?
I laugh watching those guys carrying bikes on their shoulders over the small patch of dirt road, which I easily ride and don’t get me wrong I am not careless! I simply use and enjoy my bike with the freedom !
At the end of the day, everything depends on the Rider (with the big R) !
The only cons with this bike I see is the aesthetics and I would suggest to introduce other colours as Black&white can sometimes be boring… and yes please make that German eagle a little bit smaller 🙂
Finally, to all fellow riders, it really doesn’t matter what bike you use as bike which is used is always better than the one which is collecting the dust in the shed !
Cheers!
