What does a day as Head of Sales at Reid look like?
This month we interviewed Vincent Rochard to delve into how our sales team continues to get more and more people across the globe on Reid bikes! Vincent talks about how we have overcome some of the industry challenges of the past year, continuing to find those all important pockets of demand.
Could you sum up your role at Reid in one sentence?
I’m the Head of Sales for Reid International, meaning to deliver an optimised market mix of every product under the Reid brand and expand the company’s market share and distribution base.
What tasks could you be doing during the day?
There is not a typical day but all tasks gravitate around running the day-to-day sales operations of the business. Lots of emails of course! Some meetings, in video or in person, interaction with my (for now) very small Team. I travel or welcome clients to our Head Office, have regular meetings with Marketing in particular who are an essential part of our success and on the occasion be a model for our lifestyle photoshoot!
At Reid we are always striving to be better, what are your Reid goals for 2023?
I set my team and I some ambitious goals, from a high number of new distributors to a large part of our sales made of ebikes! Ambitious goals will not only shift our perspective but also increase our level of confidence. We have great products and believe they are the right one for many distributors worldwide…especially in the current market climate.
What is your favourite part of your job?
Ideally riding bikes…but that mostly happens outside office hours! I love what I do but if I have to name my favourite, it would be attending trade shows. This is the best way to showcase our products, see current clients and meet new ones as well as networking and catching up with colleague’s in the industry.
What are the biggest challenges you encounter and how do you overcome them?
This past year has surely been rich in challenges so the biggest would be how to find opportunities in an overstock market?! Close relationships with clients can overcome this by knowing them and their market at a personal level and see it from their side. Of course we have to come with a solution, which we continue to do successfully!
If you could try out another role at Reid for the day, what would it be and why?
Well, this would require more than a day (long way away from the UK) but I’d like to experience being in the QC (quality control) team in one of our Asian factories to ensure the bikes being boxed are perfect! For obvious reasons it helps improve customer satisfaction by consistently delivering quality products and garner customer loyalty.
What new product/range/project/development is in the pipeline that you’re most excited about?
Most of the whole Reid bikes have been redeveloped in the last 18 months but the range which I am most excited about is eBikes. The quality at this price point is just unbelievable and more models are in the pipeline. We really pride ourselves to make cycling more affordable, offering high quality bikes which look absolutely fabulous and therefore seeing more people on Reid bikes! It’s logically a range I really want to push out in a mature market like Europe and we are already seeing lots of positive response from distributors.
