Tell us a little bit about yourself

I’m Hannah and I’m currently studying marketing communications with advertising at Bournemouth University, which I’m absolutely loving! I recently completed my second year and have just started my internship at Reid Bikes. Exciting!

Travelling, swimming, walks on the beach, cycling, reading, and visiting the cinema are just a few of the things I love doing in my spare time.

How did you get involved with Reid?

I discovered Reid via LinkedIn when I was exploring potential placement opportunities. I noticed they had a current intern, Kate, who was doing some fantastic online campaigns that aligned with my interests. After looking further into the company, I was impressed by Reid’s values and principles. This included the team’s work ethos as well as their sustainability practises, all of which led to me to apply.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

While I’ve only been part of the team for a week, so far, I have loved the variety of responsibilities introduced to me. This is insightful for my learning experience as an intern because it gives me exposure to many different skills. Also, it certainly doesn’t restrict by abilities, which is so valuable in marketing (since it’s everchanging). In addition, I love how open and friendly the team is to any questions I have, not just about Reid Bikes, but their experience as working professionals. There’s always something new to learn!

Where do you see Reid going in the future?

With trends continuously evolving, I can definitely see Reid expanding across the UK and other global markets. More people are investing into their health and fitness which is an amazing opportunity for Reid to see growth. Alongside this, technology is becoming more advanced than ever before, which is a great opportunity for Reid eBikes or eScooters to expand.

What does an average day in the life look like?

I try to wake up super early every morning to give myself enough time to get ready for the day and make a nutritious breakfast. This usually consists of greek yogurt or a fruit smoothie – the most refreshing thing ever! I’ll then head into the office for 7/8am. Every hour is different in the office so no day is ever the same, but I’ll usually check in with my team/managers then check out my to-do list. After a variety of tasks, chats, many questions, and a walk, the day is over before I know it and I’m heading home. In the evenings, I’ll usually make some dinner, relax, and sometimes go on a sunset walk.

What type of bike do you ride?

Growing up, I always rode an MTB, but would always dream of having a vintage-style one, specifically in a pastel colour with a basket. Since I’m away at university, I don’t currently own a bike, but if I had to choose based on comfort and appearance, the Ladies Classic is definitely for me!

Finally, what advice would you give to someone who doesn’t cycle, or is new to cycling?

Go for it! Even if you’re just starting out. You don’t have to have a thousand skills or be the best to enjoy it. A casual, relaxing cycle along the beach is just as fun as a thrilling off-road adventure.
